Part 1, planes battle overhead. Marines fire at snipers at Heto Cape. Southern Okinawa is shelled. The 382nd Reg't battles at Table Top Ridge; the 381st, at Kakzu Ridge; and the 184th, at Rocky Crag Ridge. Flamethrowers burn out Sawtooth Ridge. A tank crew is rescued. Shows Japanese fortifications; Adm. Nimitz and Gen. Vandegrift. Part 2 (CB only) shows dead and wreckage after a Japanese raid on a Seabee camp on Iwo Jima (Mar. 26). Part 2 (SFR only), 63rd Reg't troops battle toward Manila; casualties are treated. 592nd Amphib. Engrs. land unopposed on Carabao Is. (Apr. 16) and blast positions with TNT and flamethrowers (CB part 3). 38th Div. troops land at Ft. Drum. C-47's spray Manila with DDT (SFR reel 2). Part 3 (CB part 4), bundled logs are carried by a tank and (CB reel 2) dropped into a ditch so the tank can cross. Demonstrates uses of treadway bridges by tanks. Part 5 (CB only), V-1 bombs are shot down over Antwerp; shows V-1 damage. Part 6 (CB only) shows the 490th QM Depot in Britain. Bundles are prepared for air drops and whole blood and plasma are put on a plane. Part 4 (CB part 7), the RAF bombs Helgoland and Berchtesgaden, Ger.; submarines (including a snorkel) are captured in the Bremen pens; a captured Ger. jet is described; V-2 launching site is inspected (SFR only); 57- and 75-mm recoilless rifles and a 4.2" mortar are fired (SFR only); 69th Div. and Russ. troops meet at Torgau, Ger. (Apr. 25).
